We are looking for motivated and passionate individuals to join our team as Medical Assistant Apprentices. This is a unique opportunity for those who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the medical field whilst receiving a certification and valuable on the job training and mentorship.

As a Medical Assistant Apprentice, you will work closely with our medical staff to learn and develop essential skills in patient care, administrative duties, and clinical procedures. This apprenticeship is designed to provide comprehensive on-the-job training, with the potential to transition into a permanent, full-time Certified Medical Assistant role upon successful completion.

Under the direction of the KCH Director of Nursing, KCH Charge Nurse and Medical Staff Providers and as a member of the Kaniksu Community Health Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Team, a typical day might include of a Medical Assistant Apprentice might include;

  • Assist in patient intake, including taking vital signs and medical histories
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist during procedures
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, including blood draws and specimen collection
  • Administer medications and injections under the supervision of a healthcare professional
  • Maintain patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Follow all safety and infection control protocols
  • Learn and apply clinical procedures while adhering to medical and HIPAA guidelines
  • Support the healthcare team with administrative and clinical duties as needed

Experience Needed to Land this Gig:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in healthcare
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to multitask
  • Compassionate and empathetic with a commitment to providing excellent patient care
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • No prior medical experience required (training provided)
  • Must be able to commit to the full length of the apprenticeship program

  • 40 hours/week plus class time
